In my last post “Welcome to Miami”, I shared a few photos of Miami. What I didn’t tell you was that these photos were taken at the Miami Port. I was headed on a 7-day cruise!! Yes, I ‘ve been hiding that little gem for a while.
It was the most exhilarating and apprehensive feeling knowing that I was going on ginormous ship for 7 days to countries I have only seen on television, in magazines and other people’s photos… yes, I don’t get out much.:) Now before we get into the details of the trip, let me preface this post by stating that I get extremely seasick and always have since my first cruise at 9 years old with my parents. I vowed never to get on a ship ever again. Once again, at 22, I went on a smaller boat and decided to go to the highest deck and look over the side… I am sure you can finish that story . How did I arrive at the decision to take this adventure on? I wanted to engage with other cultures and learn about their history, discover new cuisines and capture as much on camera as possible.
So, here I am in the Port of Miami boarding the Carnival Glory and realizing this ship is where I will eat, sleep and party for the next 7 days while travelling to Mexico, Honduras and finally to the Grand Cayman Islands. Let the fun times begin!!
I thought I would post a few photos that have not had a chance to share that were taken in the beginning of July. This photo was taken in the parking lot across the street from my job. I think the owner really loves flowers and plants in general. He even planted a plum tree some time ago which is now bearing actual fruit!
I know I have not been posting as often as I once did. My goal was to post every day in July but that didn’t happen and I feel that I am not staying completely true to my mission for project 365 (or 366 if you consider that this is a leap year). I’ve been taking photos with either my Canon or my iPhone for most of the days that I did not post but I just don’t get time to post and share the stories behind them. Sometimes the story or sentiment behind the photo matters and actually makes the post more interesting. Just my opinion… and yes I did say “sometimes”. Although, I have seen many spectacular photos on WordPress where there wasn’t a charming tale or even a description and it didn’t make the photo any less powerful; in fact, it sometimes makes an even stronger piece. Now, that is wonderful thing about ART!
Stay tune for more photos… some with a story and maybe some without!
Good morning! I awoke this morning with an urgency to get out and shoot. I grabbed my Canon and keys and drove out to a nearby field. This small part of the world seemed so silent and calm. And the inspiration came….
….And then I went back to bed.
Now that I am awake again, it’s time for a bit of fun! See you soon with more photos!
It was 99° today! I opened the door to the balcony and it was a matter of seconds before I felt the sweltering heat. OMG! Back inside I went. A tall glass of lemonade and a bowl of cherries began calling me. Wow, how I love summer!
As I was going through my archived photos, of course while sipping on my cool glass of lemonade, I found this photo. This photo was actually taken in early Spring of this year. I thought it was a fitting photo for today’s post. I guess inspiration came early!
I am officially back!!! Back from vacation in FLORIDA!! Okay, so it wasn’t Miami or Orlando but Jacksonville is pretty cool. I have been a few times but not with a camera. A camera changes your perspective of everything. It was like visiting for the first time. Can you hear the Oohs and Awwhs… come closer to the monitor … Right there!
